AIGA Cleveland is proud to support this calligraphy workshop series presented by The Studio of Christine Wisnieski with The Hive Studio. These workshops are intended to foster and produce a space where individuals can create together outside the traditional workday. Spend a few hours learning a new skill, making friends and nibbling in their light filled downtown Cleveland space.
Experiment with pointed pen Calligraphy instructed by artist and calligrapher, Lindsey Buck of The Hive Studio. Lindsey’s work can be found gracing the covers of Anthropologie catalogs, UPPERCASE Magazine and on countless blogs.
Calligraphy Basics—September 30
Class Time: 6pm—9pm
Students will learn the basics of holding and understanding the anatomy of the pen, dipping ink and scribing the alphabet. Each student will receive The Hive Studio Kit, a beautifully crafted calligraphy starter kit to use in class and take home to practice. A light snack and beverages will be provided.
The Hive Studio Starter Kit
Includes: 1 nib, wooden nib holder, black & white ink and well, pipette, alphabet sheet, resource sheet + practice paper
Intermediate Calligraphy—October 1
Class Time: 10am—1pm
Students will expand their writing skills; learn to connect letters and words, experiment with gold & gouache inks, intermediate nibs and media. Students will learn how to create an art print, address envelopes and how to digitize art. Each student will receive The Hive Studio Kit, a beautifully crafted calligraphy kit including intermediate nibs, inks and papers to use in class and take home to practice. A light breakfast and beverages will be provided. This workshop is a continuation of concepts taught in Calligraphy Basics and perfect for anyone with a basic knowledge of pointed pen calligraphy.
The Hive Studio Intermediate Kit
Includes: 2 nibs, wooden nib holder, gold, black & white inks, 1 tube of gouche, 1 ink well, resource sheet, practice paper, phrases & word sheet, & art print sheet || NOTE: Students that already own The Hive Studio Kit may email workshops@christinewisnieski.com for an after-checkout discount.
