The hearth is ablaze, and a comfy corner beckons in this delightful public house in the middle of Lakewood. Unlike "Irish" eateries that trade on a thin veneer of Guinness posters and Gaelic phrases the employees can't read, Sullivan's owns a genuinely Joycean feel. (Go ahead, sit at the richly appointed bar, and chase that Jameson with a few long thoughts on art and life.) Sullivan's menu closes the deal as far as authenticity is concerned: An appetizer of rich cheddar dip comes with boxty (potato pancake) wedges; a salmon sandwich and shepherd's pie are part of the regular fare. Of particular note are the shrimp and scallop boxty, and the Guinness lamb stew - a congregation of potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips and, of course, lamb with a little Guinness in the broth.
