What is electronic waste?
Electronic waste, e-waste, e-scrap, or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is a loose category of surplus, obsolete, broken, or discarded electrical or electronic devices.
EVENT DETAIL
The Electronic Waste Round-Up is an opportunity to declutter you office or home and have old, broken or outdated computers, mobile phones, peripherals, printers, etc., please bring them to this drop off location to be collected by Great Eastern Metals, a local company.
Pam Cerio, a long-standing AIGA member organized this round-up behind her office building and kindly extended the invitation to AIGA Cleveland members. If you do take advantage of this opportunity, there are only 2 rules to follow, so Pam doesn’t get in trouble with the building manager.
Rule 1 – NO TVs or appliances are accepted.
Rule 2 – Drop off is ONLY available on May 27 from 9 am-12 noon. Please do not leave items after the truck is gone.
EXACT DIRECTIONS TO THE DROP-OFF LOCATION:
The e-waste truck will be located on a small street behind the building. Traveling north on W 9th you will see CRITTENDEN COURT PARKING, a surface parking lot on your left. Just after passing the lot and before MALLORCA RESTAURANT (1390 W 9th), make a left onto a street that runs parallel with
the Mallorca building. At the end of the building turn right onto a narrow street that runs behind a series of buildings, including the Lorenzo Carter building. It is a short street and you will see the Great Eastern Metals e-waste truck parked closer to St. Clair. After dropping your items at the truck, continue straight to exit onto West St. Clair.

What are the environmental benefits of reusing and recycling e-waste?
Electronic products are made from valuable resources, such as precious and other metals, plastics, and glass, all of which require energy to mine and manufacture them. Reusing and recycling these materials from end-of-life electronics conserves our natural resources and avoids air and water pollution, as well as greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by manufacturing new products.
