2018 AIGA Board Nominees
President
Sarah Rutherford

Sarah Rutherford is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Cleveland State University. She is a 2012 graduate of the Master of Fine Arts in the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University.

A Missouri native, Sarah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Truman State University. She worked professionally as a designer for Paper Source and the National Parks Conservation Association, where her work was recognized by HOW Magazine.


 

VP of Finance
Stephanie Boyle

Stephanie is a graphic designer for the Western Reserve Historical Society, where she has been managing the brand identity for WRHS’s 150th anniversary year and created the brand identity for the new permanent exhibit, Cleveland Starts Here®. Stephanie is also an assistant regional manager for ZG Properties, LLC. Stephanie earned her Bachelors of Art in Graphic Design from Cleveland State University and her Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing from Drexel University. During the warmer months, you can normally find Stephanie photographing cycling races at the Cleveland Velodrome or cheering on friends at criterium or cyclocross races.


 

VP of Partnership
Nick Hafner

Nick is a Graphic Designer and Letterpress Printer at Type Twenty Seven, a small design and letterpress studio in downtown Cleveland. Since joining Type Twenty Seven, Nick has worked on a variety of projects and held leadership roles with clients such as the Cleveland International Film Festival, Yoko Ono, and Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens. His work has been recognized in local and international competitions such as AIGA 730, and HOW International Design Awards. Prior to joining Type Twenty Seven, Nick received his BFA in Graphic Design from The Myer’s School of Art, at The University of Akron. During his education there, he was chosen to be a member of Design x Nine, an award winning in-house student run design studio.


 

Director of Special Projects
Jennifer Vokoun

Jennifer Vokoun is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Walsh University in North Canton. She also serves as the Director of the Food Design Institute at Walsh University, facilitating community engagement through design thinking on food systems issues. She previously taught part-time at Kent State University and served as the Internship Coordinator for the Visual Communication Design department. Jennifer earned her BFA in Illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design and her MFA in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University. She has over 25 years experience working in graphic design, for clients including The Cleveland Orchestra and the Akron Art Museum. In 2017, Jennifer was a Design Incubation Fellow, and also participated in the AIGA + IBM F.ACT Summit in NYC, focused on design thinking facilitation activation.


 

Director of In-House
Michael Rogers

Michael Rogers is the Manager of Design at ERC where he contributes to the design, creative direction, and business development of ERC and its subsidiaries. Michael is also a member of the NorthCoast 99 committee where he helps oversee the production, delivery, and creative direction of their annual awards event. Prior to joining ERC, Michael was a Graphic Designer for BioMed Specialty Pharmacy in Cincinnati where he helped grow the organization from $1 million to $10 million annual and quadrupled BioMed’s geographic reach. In a freelance capacity, Michael has had the honor to work with some great brands including TEDxCincinnati, Ocean Accelerator, and Q Commons.

Outside of the office Michael enjoys hiking, cycling, and teaching is 1-year old daughter proper color theory.


 

Director of Community Outreach
Jordan Wong

Jordan is a graphic designer, illustrator and artist working under the name WONGFACE. He is originally from Pittsburgh and studied at California University of Pennsylvania, receiving a dual bachelors degree in Graphic Design and Marketing. As a member of AIGA Pittsburgh, Jordan served on the chapter’s programming committee before relocating to Cleveland. Since then, he has started his own business, shown artwork throughout the city, worked on CAC SfAPT (Cuyahoga Arts and Culture Support for Artists Planning Team), and assumed the role of design partner at the art organization SPACES. Jordan specializes in illustrative work and is inspired by empowering narratives, tongue-in-cheek humor, and imaginative quirkiness.


 

Community Meeting Chair
Nikki Machado

Nikki Machado is a senior graphic designer at the print and design company, Hotcards. Here she creates brand identities, magazine layouts, ecommerce websites, and multimedia marketing campaigns. After attending the University of South Carolina, she graduated from Cleveland State University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Nikki is looking forward to her role on the board and eager to meet new people in the Cleveland design community.


 

Membership Chair
Pamela Lewis

Pamela Lewis is a designer who ran the graphics/word processing department for a top accounting firm with over 300 internal clients. Since then she has branded businesses, produced graphics, developed content, and created one-of- a-kind event experiences for adults and children under the name PoshWork. With a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Organizational Psychology and an additional Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communications she has gone on to obtain coaching certifications for Life, Business, and Marketing. Through Pillar Coaching she has recently coached a client in establishing a professional business presence in design while increasing profits, coached a musical director from Cleveland to Broadway, and coached a former dancer turned realtor from 3 million a year to 10 million through her Coaching Creative’s program. She draws inspiration for life from the happiness of children, music, books, and believes the best way to spend an evening is enjoying the company of friends with a fine craft cocktail.


 

Student Development Chair
Anne Berry

Anne H. Berry is an assistant professor of graphic design at Cleveland State University, in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her MFA degree from the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. In addition to teaching, Berry works as a freelance designer. Her most recent projects include a permanent exhibit for the Civil Rights Heritage Center in South Bend, Indiana, and logo identities for the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Social Research and Center for Social Concerns. She is a cofounder of LightBox, a studio in downtown Goshen, Indiana, and serves as the chief creative officer for the online peer feedback educational platform Round3. She is currently researching topics focused on ethnic/racial diversity in design education, design for social impact and diversity issues within the design profession.


 

Email Chair
Carly White

Carly White is a Graphic Designer and Marketing Associate at ThenDesign Architecture and received her BA in Art and Communication at Lake Forest College. When Carly isn’t working on branding and content marketing, she enjoys drawing, learning about new places, and is currently studying Creative Placemaking. She is excited to join AIGA Cleveland as the Email Chair and is looking forward to meeting fellow creatives in the Cleveland area.


 

Web Chair
Brittany Knisely

Brittany is a Digital Developer at Wyse Advertising, in downtown Cleveland, where her duties range from designing and developing websites for clients like Cleveland Clinic and Parker Hannifin, to producing social media content and planning. Along side her 9-5, Brittany is a freelance web and graphic designer, working on projects for Cleveland-based businesses and entrepreneurs. Brittany graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Art in Popular Culture, and then studied web design and interactive media at Tri-C, where she completed an Associate of Applied Business in Visual Communication and Design. In her free time, she’s a crafter, book-hoarder, Cavs fan, and cat lady. She’s always excited to do more, make more, and learn more, and is excited to contribute to the Cleveland chapter of AIGA.


 

Social Media & Blog Chair
Alexa Jones

Alexa Jones is a designer, art director, illustrator, and chronic coffee drinker with a love for branding, typography, and lettering. She’s currently an art director at Wyse Advertising, where she shakes up creative for clients while dancing (rather badly) at her standing desk. As a Milwaukee native enjoying life in Cleveland, Alexa is looking to be more involved with the local creative community. When she’s not designing things, you’ll find her baking pies and planning road trips.
