Meet our 2020 nominees for the Board of Directors.

Jordan Wong, President
Jordan is a graphic designer, illustrator and artist working under the name WONGFACE. He is originally from Pittsburgh and studied at California University of Pennsylvania, receiving a dual bachelors degree in Graphic Design and Marketing. As a member of AIGA Pittsburgh, Jordan served on the chapter’s programming committee before relocating to Cleveland. Since then, he has started his own business, shown artwork throughout the city, worked on CAC SfAPT (Cuyahoga Arts and Culture Support for Artists Planning Team), and assumed the role of design partner at the art organization SPACES. Jordan specializes in illustrative work and is inspired by empowering narratives, tongue-in-cheek humor, and imaginative quirkiness.


Pamela Lewis, VP of Sponsorship
Pamela Lewis is a designer who ran the graphics/word processing department for a top accounting firm with over 300 internal clients and the former Membership Chair for AIGA Cleveland. Since then she has branded businesses, produced graphics, developed content, and created one-of- a-kind event experiences for adults and children under the name PoshWork. With a Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Organizational Psychology and an additional Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communications she has gone on to obtain coaching certifications for Life, Business, and Marketing. Through Pillar Coaching she has recently coached a client in establishing a professional business presence in design while increasing profits, coached a musical director from Cleveland to Broadway, and coached a former dancer turned realtor from 3 million a year to 10 million through her Coaching Creative’s program. She draws inspiration for life from the happiness of children, music, books, and believes the best way to spend an evening is enjoying the company of friends with a fine craft cocktail.


Nikki Machado, Director of Community Outreach
Nikki Machado is a freelance graphic designer the former Community Meeting Chair and Interactive Director for AIGA Cleveland. She creates brand identities, magazine layouts, ecommerce websites, letterpress and multimedia marketing campaigns. After attending the University of South Carolina, she graduated from Cleveland State University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Nikki is looking forward to her role on the board and eager to meet new people in the Cleveland design community.


Kevin Fagan, Community Meeting, Co-Chair
Kevin Fagan is an in-house designer for Applied Industrial Technologies in Cleveland, Ohio as well as an illustrator with a deep passion for all aspects of creativity. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, he enjoys sharing his expertise gained from his 25+ year design career which has touched many major disciplines of the design field. A family man at heart, Kevin loves his hometown of Lakewood Ohio and has been an active member of AIGA Cleveland’s Community Outreach Committee, helping coordinate the monthly community meetings and building a strong creative community in the Cleveland area.


Rachel Raymond, Community Meeting Co-Chair
Rachel Raymond has been working at Onyx Creative, an architecture, engineering and design firm, for almost five years. She graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) in 2015 with a Bachelors in Interior Architecture. At Onyx, she serves as an in-house graphic designer and aids the design team with conceptual design, three-dimensional modeling and renderings. She currently manages Onyx’s social media efforts and serves as a writer for their blog. She has worked on several interior design projects including national retail prototypes such as Fabletics and Codeverse.


Alyssa Rose Miller, Membership Co-Chair
Alyssa is a recent graduate of the Graphic Design program at Cleveland State University, where she was very active in the program and spent a year as Vice President of their AIGA student group. She was a design intern for LAND studio, which opened her mind to how design impacts a community. Now, she works for Guide Studio and previously served as Design Life Balance Event Series Chair for AIGA Cleveland. She is passionate about people, creating community and connecting with others wherever she can.


Nick Labate, Membership Co-Chair
Nick Labate is a creative based in Cleveland, Ohio, and a recent graduate of Kent State University. While at Kent, he received his BFA in Visual Communication design and a minor in Dance. Nick is especially interested in the space where the visual and performing arts meet, and how these moments communicate more deeply than language. You can find Nick reading, dancing, playing volleyball, working out, and singing to anyone who will listen!


Anne Berry, Diversity and Inclusion Co-Chair
Anne H. Berry is an assistant professor of graphic design at Cleveland State University, and the former Student Development Chair for AIGA Cleveland. She received her MFA degree from the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. In addition to teaching, Berry works as a freelance designer. Her projects include a permanent exhibit for the Civil Rights Heritage Center in South Bend, Indiana, and logo identities for the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Social Research and Center for Social Concerns. She is a cofounder of LightBox, a studio in downtown Goshen, Indiana, and serves as the chief creative officer for the online peer feedback educational platform Round3. She is currently researching topics focused on ethnic/racial diversity in design education, design for social impact and diversity issues within the design profession.


Carly White, Diversity and Inclusion Co-Chair
Carly White is a Graphic Designer and Marketing Associate at ThenDesign Architecture and the former Email Chair for AIGA Cleveland. She received her BA in Art and Communication at Lake Forest College. When Carly isn’t working on branding and content marketing, she enjoys drawing, learning about new places, and is currently studying Creative Placemaking. She is excited to join AIGA Cleveland as the Email Chair and is looking forward to meeting fellow creatives in the Cleveland area.


Jennifer Vokoun, Design for Good Chair
Jennifer Vokoun is an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at Walsh University in North Canton. She also serves as the Director of the Food Design Institute at Walsh University, facilitating community engagement through design thinking on food systems issues. She previously taught part-time at Kent State University and served as the Internship Coordinator for the Visual Communication Design department. Jennifer earned her BFA in Illustration from Columbus College of Art and Design and her MFA in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University. She has over 25 years experience working in graphic design, for clients including The Cleveland Orchestra and the Akron Art Museum. In 2017, Jennifer was a Design Incubation Fellow, and also participated in the AIGA + IBM F.ACT Summit in NYC, focused on design thinking facilitation activation.


Crystal Madrilejos, Women Lead Co-Chair
Crystal Madrilejos is Vice President of Creative Strategy at Tenlo, a Cleveland-based Pipeline Marketing agency. Crystal began her career in NYC designing publications after graduating from Parsons School of Design in 2003 with a BFA in Visual Communication Design. Since returning to Ohio, Crystal expanded her experience in both agency and in-house design and marketing teams for small start-ups, mid-size software development companies, and large retail brands. Crystal also designs CCO Magazine, the online publication for Content Marketing Institute. Her design philosophy is this: Relevant and meaningful creative ideas can’t happen in isolation. Design isn’t “just making things look pretty,” but rather an overall approach to communicating and a deep understanding of how all aspects of a project work together to solve really important problems.


Rebecca Wrenn, Communications Chair
Rebecca Wren joined Sweeney in 2014 and established the agency’s creative department in 2016. Leading the department as Creative Director, Rebecca focuses on concept development to full execution of award-winning creative for the agency’s clients. Her deep knowledge of the account management process, paired with her high creative aptitude have resulted in the perfect storm of creativity that has resulted in the hiring of full-time graphic designers and directing a dedicated network of industry leading experts in branding, identity, videography and web development.


Deanna Dionne, Web Chair
Deanna Dionne has been creating brands since 2008. Most notably Cleveland Street Glass– where she makes jewelry from found auto glass– which resulted in her being named Most Interesting Person and Best of Cle by Cleveland Magazine. Deanna discovered design through HTML and CSS, teaching herself website design in the early internet days. She has built over a dozen brands, many for fashion wristwatches and sunglasses. She moved to Cleveland for affordable art space, and allows her interest in material, light, color, and balance to drive her art practice.


Jeff Haynes, Email Chair
Jeff Haynes is a Senior Producer at WVIZ/PBS ideastream, where he oversees on-air promotion and design. He is a graduate of the School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Kent State University. His previous work includes in-house design and production at Young & Rubicam, CBS, The World Series Of Poker, and Time-Warner. He has successfully launched multiple digital series that have led to generous funding, national distribution, and 4 Emmys.


Ashley Volney, Social Media Chair and Photographer
Ashley Volney is a Graphic Designer and Marketing Assistant at Vantage Agora. She works on range of projects including social media marketing, motion graphics, photography and website design. Ashley received her BFA in Graphic Design from Bowling Green State University in 2016. There, she designed for BGSU’s ArtsX Event and participated in the Sit&Tell Project for an AIGA Toledo. After college, she took on the role as the Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator for Mobile Meals of Toledo. Ashley found her way back home to Cleveland in 2017 where continues to keep her mind open with multiple creative interests like portrait photography and the art of soapmaking.


Sarah Rutherford, Event Series Chair
Sarah Rutherford is the outgoing President of AIGA Cleveland and an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Cleveland State University. She is a 2012 graduate of the Master of Fine Arts in the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. A Missouri native, Sarah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Truman State University. She worked professionally as a designer for Paper Source and the National Parks Conservation Association, where her work was recognized by HOW Magazine.


Michael Rogers, At Large
Michael Rogers is the former Director of In-House for AIGA Cleveland and Manager of Design at ERC where he contributes to the design, creative direction, and business development of ERC and its subsidiaries. Michael is also a member of the NorthCoast 99 committee where he helps oversee the production, delivery, and creative direction of their annual awards event. Prior to joining ERC, Michael was a Graphic Designer for BioMed Specialty Pharmacy in Cincinnati where he helped grow the organization from $1 million to $10 million annual and quadrupled BioMed’s geographic reach. In a freelance capacity, Michael has had the honor to work with some great brands including TEDxCincinnati, Ocean Accelerator, and Q Commons.


Brett Combs, At Large
Brett is a visual communication and user-experience designer originally from Alliance, Ohio. He received his MFA in design from California College of the Arts; his BA in Philosophy from San Francisco State University and is currently studying user-experience design in the Masters UXD program at Kent State University. He previously taught Visual Communication at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and practiced print and digital design at Shutterfly, SG Cowen, HomeGain, and CMG Design. When logged off he can be found cutting and pasting mixed media collage, mountain biking the Cuyahoga Valley or enjoying dimly lit live music.
