Join the Virtual Community Meeting!
While we cannot be physically together this month due to social distancing, we will come together virtually to bring the power of our creative community to the inside of our homes.
Our monthly community meetings are a place to share your thoughts and ideas, let your voice be heard, meet like-minded creatives, and build meaningful relationships. We welcome anyone to join us, our meetings are open to everyone!
Guest Speaker: Alesha Williams
Topic: Designing Identity: Critiquing the Characterization of Minority Identity in the Medium of Comics
Alesha is an illustrator, designer, and educator from Cleveland, Ohio. Alesha is an advocate of Diversity and Inclusion and she combines her many interests in her research, which focuses on character design and representation of marginalized and minority characters in the medium of comic books. Her research asks the question; how are minority identities are designed and characterized in comic books and are there methods to craft better and more effective representation for marginalized and minority characters.
Alesha has taught at Kent State University, Columbus College of Art and Design and many youth art programs around Ohio. Alesha is currently working for Compass Consulting Services LLC as a designer and as an illustrator for Sequential Potential LLC.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions but we encourage you to submit questions before the meeting on social media or by emailing nmachado@cleveland.aiga.org.
