Creating a more accessible design community in Cleveland
Join our community meeting on Thursday, February 25 to discuss how two community leaders, Jacinda Walker of DesignExplorr and Stephanie Kluk of Future Ink Graphics (FIG) are making design more accessible through their work in the community.
For 20 years Ms. Kluk has worked for multiple non-profit visual arts organizations in varying capacities including program management and development, fundraising, arts advocacy, educational and community outreach, organizational management, board and staff development and more. Recently, Ms. Kluk was hired on as the Development Director for the Collective Arts Network (CAN Journal). Stephanie continues to support the arts in Cleveland while giving her the time to build and grow her newest venture, Future Ink Graphics (FIG). FIG is slated to open in summer of 2021 and will provide resources and services to graphic designers and digital and silkscreen artists.
Jacinda Walker is the founder and creative director of DesignExplorr, an organization that operates as a social enterprise to address the diversity gap within the design profession. Currently, DesignExplorr’s mission aims to design a diverse future by expanding access to design education for youth and raise awareness for corporate organizations. She is renowned for her work in diversity, design research and strategy. She has helped clients including Amazon, Adobe, Kellogg and others with their diversity recruiting strategies. From 2016-2018, Jacinda served as the national chair of AIGA’s Diversity & Inclusion task force. Jacinda is a strong advocate for young people and proudly mentors several design students on portfolio presentations, professional development and career planning. Walker’s future goals are to help scale diversity in design education initiatives for corporations, school systems, educational organizations, and museums for underrepresented youth.
